Abstract
780,541. Automatic firearms. FABBRICA NAZIONALE D'ARMI. June 29, 1955 [July 9, 1954], No. 18770/55. Classes 92 and 119 Relates to an automatic firearm in which the breech block, which is not positively locked, has an integral front portion 2 sliding over the barrel and recoiling against the action of a spring 3. A safety device is provided to prevent inadvertent firing due to movement of the breech block when the rear part of the firearm receives a blow. This comprises a special notch 1 in the breech block provided in addition to the normal cocking notch 5 so that if the breech block recoils on receiving a blow, a spring-urged pawl 4 engages in the notch 1 so preventing the breech block from reaching a sufficently rearward position which would enable it to take a cartridge 7 from the magazine 8, push it into the breech and fire it.
