Abstract

1279825 Small arms HECKLER & KOCH GmbH 15 Sept 1969 [18 Sept 1968] 45379/69 Heading F3C A self loading pistol comprising a grip member 1 which consists of a synthetic resin material having incorporated therein metal parts for receiving a barrel, supporting and guiding a displaceable breech assembly and accommodating a trigger assembly. On pulling the flat plate trigger 17, which is held in the ready position by the compression spring 30, the downwardly and inwardly facing lugs 24, 25 on the cranked trigger rods 18, 19 engaged by the trigger move rearward until the fixed rod 29 trips the sear engaging the bolt, thus causing the gun to fire. The recoil of the breach mechanism is damped by the lower edge 56 of the forward traverse wall 13 engaging the plunger 55 in the sliding member 51 which forces the buffer member 48 rearwards against a system of compression springs 42, 43, 44 and 46 preferably in combination with brake rings 47. The compression spring 15 returns the breech mechanism. The breech member 2 may be removed from the barrel 12 attached to the grip member 1 by lowering the plunger 55 and sliding member 51 into the recess 59 by means of a hammer shaped fitment (54) attached to the lower edge of the sliding member 51 which is normally flush with the trigger aperture 53 and then sliding the breech member rearwards against the spring 15 so that the edge 56 passes over the plunger 55 with the recesses 60 in the guide grooves 11 are immediately beneath the guide projections 9, when the breech member 2 can be lifted upwards and removed forwardly from the firearm. In order that the firearm cannot be fired without the sliding member 51 and plunger 55 being returned to their operative position the sliding member 51 is provided with projections 63 in recesses 61 into'which projects the forward end 62 of the trigger 17 when the sliding member is in the depressed position thus preventing pulling of the trigger.
