698,597. Seats; furniture frames. GUMULKA, M. Jan. 18, 1952 [Jan. 25, 1951], No. 1502/52. Class 52(ii) A collapsable framework which may'be convertible in various frames of furniture &c. comprises tubes and rods which in some cases are pivoted together. Fig. 1 shows a stool frame comprising longitudinals 1, cross-members 2 which are hinged medially at 5, sleeves 6 being provided for rendering the cross-members rigid. Legs 8 are connected to the members 2 by hinges 7. Fig. 2 shows the framework converted to that of a chair. Tubular members 9, forming the back which in Fig. 1 are hinged to longitudinals 1, are extended and connected at their upper ends by a cross-member hinged at 12a to one of the members 9; struts 13, 14 support the back. Fig. 4 shows the frame of a deck chair, the back being extended by rods 11 which are normally housed in the members, the struts 13 being of curved shape as shown if desired. A rod 15 connected to a crossrod 17 with legs are provided to act as a foot rest and if a tent is desired to be erected, uprights 20 for such tent may be held in sockets 19. When used as a chair, the provision of wheels on the legs converts the frame into that for a child's push chair.
