Abstract
872,914. Folding beds. EXPANDED METAL CO. Ltd. April 14, 1959 [April 15, 1958], No. 11998/58. Class 52(2). [Also in Group XXXII] Two or three tier beds may be provided by foldable stretchers, (see Group XXXII) supported one on top of another, each stretcher comprising half frames 1 having tubular or C-shaped side members 2 and end members, the frames being double hinged together at 5 so that one frame may fold either on top of or beneath the other. Cruciform socket members 13 are secured within the free ends of the members 2 by rivets 18 so that tubular extensions 19 may be used either as handles or legs, the upper sockets 17 supporting the legs 19 of upper stretcher beds. In a modification, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), socket members are mounted externally on the ends of the members 2 and the extensions 19 are pivoted in the sockets to swing through 90 degrees and are retained by locking pins.
