Abstract

543,208. Litters. HEWSON, B. T., and LOCAN, A. Oct. 16, 1940, No. 15323. [Class 108 (i)] [Also in Group XIV] A two tier bunk is convertible into a settee or into a stretcher. The sleeping frames 12 are hinged to uprights 13 so that the frames 12 may be superposed immediately one upon another, the uprights 13 assuming the positions shown in Fig. 2 so that the device may serve as a stretcher the projecting parts of the uprights 13 serving as handles. When erected as a bunk the front edges of the frames are supported by a leg which may be in two parts hinged to the lower frame 12 one part reaching to the ground and the other entering a slot in the upper frame to support it. Cross struts 16 are provided. For use as a settee the upper frame is lowered to inclined position, Fig. 7, to serve as a back rest.
