A chair convertible into steps comprises a back-rest 4 secured to bars 5 which are pivoted at their lower ends to side pieces 2 supporting the seat 1. The back-rest is located in a position to serve as such by pegs 7 projecting from the side pieces and the back-rest can be swung forwardly and downwardly until the bars 5 rest on the floor, the back-rest then forming the lowertread and the seat 1 the upper tread of the steps or the back-rest forming a seat and the seat 1 a table.
