Abstract

698,369. Generating steam in jacketed combustion chambers. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. Aug. 3, 1951 [Aug. 8, 1950], No. 18481/51. Class 123 (ii) A steam generator 6 is heated by resonant pulsecombustion ducts, each duct comprising a combustion chamber 2, a nozzle 4, and a valved air inlet duct 1. Each combustion chamber is provided with a continuously supplied fuel injector 3, and a sparking plug 3a, the latter for starting purposes. The explosions, after starting, occur by self-ignition. Air is admitted through a baffled duct 13, and the exhaust gases may heat the feed water supplied through coils 15. The steam generated may be superheated by its contact with the walls of the chambers 2, and is led away through a duct 10. Specification 660,144, [Group XXIX], is referred to.
