Abstract

Motor power plant; working-fluid supply.-In a motor power plant including a gas turbine the gases are cooled before admission to the turbine, the heated cooling fluid being employed for example in a second turbine or reciprocating engine. Fluid fuel is supplied to burners 10 and combustion takes place in the chamber 13, and the combustion products passing through the tubes 6 of a boiler 4 to a funnel 14 are cooled for admission to the turbine by the duct 15. The duct is flared as shown at 15<1> to allow compressed air from the chamber 9 to flow in with the combustion products for further cooling thereof. Compressed air from the chamber 9 also passes by tubes 7 to a chamber 8, where it is heated by the walls before being admitted by ports 12 to the chambers 13 for combustion purposes. The steam generated in the boiler may be led from the dome 5 to a second turbine, or reciprocating engine or may be admitted to the same gas engine, or alternatively may be used for any other purpose.
