Abstract
368,319. Gas turbine plant. AKTIEBOLAGET MILO, 17, Võstra Tradgardsgatan, Stockholm. Nov. 4, 1930, No. 33158. Convention date, March 24. [Class 110 (iii).] In a gas turbine plant the heating of the driving medium is effected by the combustion of fuel in such a manner that the excess of air is less than 25 per cent by weight, and water is injected into the heating apparatus in order to burn up any soot which may be formed. Sooting fuels, or non-sooting fuels such as alcohol, may be used. Fig. 1 shows a plant comprising four turbines 1 .. 4 in series upon a shaft which carries also an air compressor 5 and an electric generator 6. Compressed air is supplied to a combustion chamber 9, and the products pass by a pipe 14 to the turbine 1 and then through the other turbines. A pipe 19 may supply high-pressure gases to the second turbine 2. The working gases are reheated between the turbines by hotgases introduced into the connecting pipes 15, 16, 17 from combustion chambers 23, 27, 30 which are fed with compressed air by a pipe 21 and with fuel by pipes 24, 28, 32. Fig. 2 shows a form of combustion chamber 9 which has a water-jacket 35. A pipe 10, is provided for the admission of sooting fuel and a pipe 11 for non-sooting fuel, both pipes having means to produce whirl. Water from the jacket is introduced into the chamber at the points 38, 39, 40. Specifications 368,318 and 368,702 are referred to.
