Abstract
697,581. Thermionic valves. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Dec..' 6, 1951 [Dec. 8, 1950], No. 28660/51. Class 39(i) The sleeve of an indirectly heated cathode for an electron tube has a tapered end 12, Fig. 1. The wider opening thus obtained facilitates the insertion of the heater. Insertion of the sleeve into the centring hole 18 of a mica plate 16 is also facilitated, and enables a tighter fit to be obtained, reducing microphony effects. The pointed end 15 also forms a stiff integral tab for a lead connection. A locating embossment 19 is provided on the sleeve. In Fig. 5 the taper is formed by a helical edge to the sleeve. The sleeve is made by rolling up a suitably shaped piece of metal sheet, Figs. 4 (not shown) and 7 (not shown).
