Abstract
721,239. Cathode-ray' tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. July 11, 1952 [Aug. 23, 1951]. No. 17570/52. Class 39 (1). A method of adjusting the distance between the cathode face and the grid cylinder aperture 3 of a cathode ray tube wherein an insulating body 4 to which the cathode 1 is fastened is inserted into a pot-like grid cylinder the bottom of which contains the aperture, is characterized in that the insulating body 4 is pushed into the grid cylinder until it contacts at least three flanges 5 that have been pressed inward out of the bottom of the grid cylinder, and that the insulating body with the cathode is then pushed along towards the grid aperture until the desired spacing is obtained by impressing at least three dents 6 into the side wall of the grid cylinder below the insulating body. The distance may be checked by focussing a microscope 7 on to the cathode through the grid aperture.
