Multi-colour phosphor strips 4 are formed on the curved face 3 of the CRT and the beam or beams is or are controlled or fucussed by a grid 7 of parallel, preferably coplanar wires, in which the strip-wire separation is smaller at the ends than at the centre of the strips by an amount designed to eliminate pincushion distortion.
