Class 9(ii) [Also in Group XI] A flashlight lamp made from a plastics moulding material has a reflector 1 integral with four walls 2 defining a housing holding a lid 7 in position. The nut 6 for a battery and a bulb socket 3. Extending through the housing is a spindle 4 carrying a' contact 5 and having at its outer end a nut 6 is in electrical communication with a strip electrode 8 contacting the central electrode of a bulb placed in the socket 3. Within the lowermost wall of the housing are two spring battery contacts 9 connected to external contacts 10, while near the opposite, wall is a battery contact forming part of an electrode extending through the wall of socket 3 to contact the bulb. The electrode has a recess to receive the bulb and extends through the lid 7 so that the bulb may be removed by displacement of the electrode. The contacts 10 are covered by plates 17 with slots to engage contact studs on a camera, the slots corresponding to the contacts 10 so that the lamp can be synchronized with the camera shutter. The lamp is also provided with a switch 13 carrying studs to engage the slots so that the lamp may be operated by a pressbutton 15. The interior of the reflector is preferably coated with aluminium paint. The moulding material may be a phenolformaldehyde condensation product, a urea-formaldehyde condensation product, polystyrene or celluloid.
