Abstract

1,191,794. Lampholders. GILBERT MFG. CO. Inc. 19 June, 1968 [19 June, 1967], No. 29324/68. Heading H2E. A lampholder for use with either screw or bayonet type lampholders is provided with integral deformable members which grip the bills when push fitted into the lampholder. As shown, the lampholder body 10 is made of resilient plastics material, e.g. polypropylene, and the sides of a cavity therein are provided with pairs 40 of resilient flaps 41 which bend back to grip a bulb cap when pushed into the cavity. In other embodiments, the gripping means includes resilient partitions (Fig. 5, not shown) and ribs (Fig. 6, not shown) located at the sides of the cavity. Contacts 24 (and 26, not shown) are provided in the body and connect to a power supply by parts 30 on the contacts penetrating the insulation of wires 36 which pass through the lampholder. A projection 50 may be provided on the contact, and another (54) on some point in the cavity wall, to engage the thread of a screw-type bulb and so make a more secure grip.
