[Class 39 (ii)] In an electric-battery lamp with a twopart casing in the form of a box or container 10 with a removable cover 11, the cover is held upon the container by the clamping action of a reflector 16 or like member which is connected in a readily detachable manner to the container and arranged to abut against an outwardly directed surface on the cover 11. In the example the bottom of the container 10 is provided with an inwardly projecting part 20 formed with a screw-threaded socket 19 to receive a screw-threaded extension 18 on the reflector 16, a flange 15 being provided on the outer periphery of the reflector to engage the rim of a short tubular extension 13 on the cover 11. Alternatively the projecting part 20 may be extended and shaped to interengage a securing-member constituted by a clamping-ring or lens carrier, without the provision of a reflector. The lamp bulb 17 is mounted in a socket 14 carried at the end of a screw-threaded metal rod 21 which passes through a screw-threaded eyelet 32 embedded in the moulded insulating material of the container 10, an external operating-knob 23 being provided on the rod 21 so that the focusing of the bulb can be adjusted. The inner end of the rod 21 forms the centre contact of the bulb socket, and the eyelet 32 is connected by a metal strip to the casing of one of the cells, there being a cell disposed at either side of the insulating socket 20. The centre pole of the second cell 25 abuts against one end 28 of a metal strip 27 which at its other end, is formed as a resilient tongue 29 extending through a slot 30 in the insulating socket 19 into contact with the metal cap of the bulb 17. The bulb can thus be retained in a set position by tightening the reflector 16 so that its screwthreaded end 18 bears upon the spring tongue 29 and clamps it against the lamp cap. The switch for the lamp comprises a metal strip which is slidable within the casing under the actuation of an externally projecting member, one end of the strip being in permanent sliding contact with the centre pole of one cell, while the other end is put into or out of contact with the metal casing of the other cell.
