Abstract
693,590. Fuel-injection Pumps. C.A.V., Ltd. Dec. 3, 1951 [Dec. 30, 1950], No. 31681/50. Class 7 (iii). A spring-loaded stop f setting the normal maximum supply position of a fuel injection pump control rod a is movable transversely of the rod a by a manually operated plunger j to permit the end i of the rod a to enter an aperture h in the stop to provide an increased fuel supply for starting, the plunger j being disengaged from the stop f by the motion of the rod a to its starting position. A bevelled collar k on the plunger j co-operates with the chamfered entrance n of the aperture a to cause depression of the stop f when the plunger j is moved to the left. A projection o holds the rod a in a reduced supply position, Fig. 2, while the rod j is depressed to prevent the excess fuel supply being obtained at times other than starting. When the plunger j is released the rod a is moved to the right by the governor loading spring, and the entry of the part i into the aperture h moves the plunger j back to its inoperative position so that the stop f returns to its normal position after starting when disengaged by the rod a.
