Abstract
754,828. Starting oil engines. SIMMS MOTOR UNITS Ltd., and NORTH, G. R. Jan. 7, 1955 [Jan. 14, 1954], No. 1149/54. Classes 7(3) and 7(5) A pump regulating rod E has associated therewith two independent and separately movable control members consisting of a manually rotatable lever D which engages an abutment surface N on the rod E to move the rod to the fuel cut-off position. Fig. 3c, for stopping, and a movable stop F normally situated between a fixed stop L and the end face M of the rod E to limit the normal maximum fuel supply and movable manually out of the path of the face M to permit the rod E to move to an excess fuel delivery position, Fig. 3b, for starting. The lever D is carried by a hollow shaft H to which is attached an actuating lever I, and the stop F is fixed to a rod G slidably journalled in the shaft H and loaded by a spring K to its normal position. For starting, a button J on the end of the rod G is depressed to move the stop F sideways against the spring K out of the path of the end face M of the rod E. The stop L is adjustable and in a modification the stop F may have an angular movement instead of a sideways movement.
