In a cam-actuated fuel injection pump comprising a spring-loaded piston 4 with a cutaway 23 controlling a spill port 27, rotation of piston 4 to vary the output is effected by a control rod 18 acting through a rotatable sleeve 8 coupled to piston 4 through a pin and slot connection 9, 10. Control rod 18 may control a number of injection pumps, fine adjustment between the pumps being effected by adjusting the position of a catch 16 linking rod 18 to sleeve 8, an inspection cover 20 being provided. In other embodiments catch 16 and cover 20 are omitted and the pump cylinder 2 is rotatable to provide the fine adjustment. In a further embodiment, rod 18 is slidably mounted in bushes in the housing and is provided with a longitudinal slot engaged by a pin to limit axial movement of the rod.
