Abstract

1474961 Fuel nozzle assemblies M G FIEDLER 30 April 1974 [30 April 1973] 17813/74 Heading F1B A fuel nozzle assembly for a compression ignition I.C. engine comprises a first sleeve 73 closed at one end except for a plurality of passages 77 and having adjacent said end a shoulder 75 on which is seated a resilient member 76, a second sleeve 80 having one end disposed in the first sleeve 73 to form a seat 79 for a valve member 78, which has a passage 78A therethrough and is slidable in the first sleeve 73, the passage 78A communicating with the passages 77. When fuel is supplied via a passage 80A in the sleeve 80, the valve member 78 is moved to away from seat 79, compressing the resilient member 76 and allowing fuel to flow through the passage 78A and the passages 77. The nozzle is supplied with fuel from an injection pump, Fig. 2, having a slidable plunger 56 whose stroke length is adjustable by means of a pin (62), Fig. 3 (not shown), whose position determines the starting position of the plunger 56 by rotating a cam follower 57 by means of a member (60) and a shaft 67. In Fig. 5 (not shown), members (90A), (90B), (90C) are actuated by pins (91A), (91B), (91C) to operate fuel pump assemblies for a six cylinder engine.
