Abstract

911,437. Fuel injection pumps. TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Dec.15, 1958 [Dec. 27, 1957], No. 40309/58. Class 102(1). In a fuel injection pump comprising a rotor R having a pump cylinder Y and a distribution portion controlling an inlet I and a plurality of outlets D 1 leading to the fuel injectors, each outlet D 1 is fitted with a non-return valve E. The pistons P are actuated by an internal cam C and the stroke of the pistons is positively controlled. In the embodiment shown the outward travel of the pistons is limited by a sleeve V having tapered surfaces T engageable with the pistons, the sleeve being axially adjustable by. means of a lever K. In a modification, Fig. 5b (not shown), fingers are radially slidably mounted on the rotor and have one portion engageable with the ends of the pistons and another portion engaged by the tapered portions T of the sleeve V. In a further modification, Fig. 4b (not shown), the fingers are actuated by spring loaded fly weights.
