Abstract

404,252. Fuel-injection pumps. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Nov. 27, 1933, No. 33095. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1932. [Class 102 (i).] A fuel-injection pump is driven through a coupling comprising a flange 16 with guides 15 supporting a nut 14 with helical teeth engaging the other part of the coupling. A governor 17 mounted upon the cam-shaft 10 actuates through a lever 19 a rack 12 to rotate the plungers and determine the point of the stroke that an inclined edge on the plunger causes delivery to cease. The governor is loaded by a spring 21 and the abutment 24 is adjusted by a lever 23 to vary the spring loading. The lever 23 is connected to the lever 27, for varying the position of the nut 14 and thus the time of beginning of injection, by a resilient coupling comprising a plate 32 connected to the lever 27 and a cylinder 28 connected to the lever 23 with an interposed spring 30. The end of the spring 30 is spaced from the end 34 of the cylinder and the plate 32 is so positioned that for the lower speed ranges, the time of injection remains constant, but in the higher ranges it is varied with the governor loading ; and also that the time of injection may be fully advanced by the lever 27 at starting.
