Abstract

352,298. Fuel pumps. KNIGHT & HALE, Ltd., J. and WHITAKER, J. E., Victoria Works, Denton, Lancashire. Aug. 15, 1930, No. 24453. [Class 102 (i).] In a pump injector unit comprising a camactuated hollow plunger B and a coaxial injection valve C the plunger B reciprocates in a guide member a<2> which houses a suction valve E and a a quantity regulating valve F. Excess feed is byepassed to the fuel supply chamber a at a variable point in the delivery stroke of the plunger B, a hand- or governor controlled rack H engaging with a toothed face - cam G which is rotatably mounted on the plunger. A spring D<1> effects the suction stroke of the pump and also serves to maintain the injection valve seated until opened by the fuel pressure.
