Abstract

690,887. Reverse-gear. AKTIEBOLAGET GOTAVERKEN. Dec. 27, 1950 [Dec. 31, 1949], No. 31422/50. Class 80 (ii). Equal speeds forward and reverse between a gas-turbine-driven input shaft 5 and a locomotive-driving shaft. 12, are provided by two parallel input shafts 8, 15 having constantlymeshed fast toothed wheels 7, 14, through which they are continuously oppositely rotated by a meshing pinion 6 on the input shaft 5, and also having electrically or hydraulically-operated frictian clutches 9, 16 for selectively connecting them to, pinions 11, 18 constantly meshing a common wheel 13 on the output shaft 12, the clutches being supplied with pressure-fluid or electricity by a pump 19 or generator driven by an internal combustion engine 1 which also supplies pressure gas to the gas turbine 3 which drives the input shaft 5. An. additional pump 39 driven by the output-connected pinion. 18 may be provided to ensure lubrication pressure whilst hauling the locomotive with both clutches disengaged. As shown in Fig. 3, each clutch is arranged inside the corresponding toothed wheel 7 or 14, between double pinions 11, 11 meshing a double output wheel 13, 13. The driven clutch-discs 9a, 9b are moved, away from and towards each other for engagement and disengagement respectively, by oil pressure supplied and exhausted through ducts 22, 23 under control of a piston distributer-valve 21; Fig. 1, and Figs. 4-6 (not shown), giving forward, neutral and reverse.
