Abstract
171,534. Sunbeam Motor Car Co., Ltd., and Coatalen, L. Sept. 6, 1920. Motor power plant.-In a transmission gearing for use on air-craft, motor boats, &c., comprising a driven shaft connected through change-speed gearing with a driving-shaft connected to two engines, the driving-shaft is placed in alignment with the two crank-shafte, and is adapted to be clutched to either or both. the two engines A, B drive a shaft D through clutches E. Gearwheels G, H sliding on the driving-shaft D mesh with one of two gear-wheels J, K on the driven shaft C. If one engine is cut out, the other still runs at its efficient speed, but drives the shaft C at a lower speed by the lower gear. There may be more than one driving-shaft adapted to gear with a single driven shaft.
