Variable-speed and reversing gearing.-In bevel gearing, wheels g<1> - - g<4> on a driving-shaft i and wheels h<1> - - h<4> on a driven shaft j gear with an idle multiple wheel f and are connected to their shafts by sliding key clutches o, o<1> separately adjusted by hand-levers. Ten forward speeds are thus obtained. The clutch o may also engage a pinion v to drive the shaft j reversely through gearing w, x, y. A reversing gear of the type employing two driving bevel-wheels may be inserted either in the driving or in the driven shaft.
