Abstract

687,614. Thermal switches. FASCO INDUSTRIES, Inc. Jan. 25, 1951 [Feb. 8, 1950], No. 1931/51. Class 38(v) In a thermal flasher or interrupter cooling of a bimetal strip 57 lowers a contact 58 into engagement with a contact 48 to complete a circuit to a coil (not shown) on the centre part of a magnetic frame 33 which thereupon attracts an.armature 46 to reinforce the contact pressure. The bimetal strip 57 now heats up due to the current flowing through it and eventually separates the contacts 58, 48, breaking the circuit of the coil which releases the armature causing a wider separation of the contacts. The cycle now recommences. The contact 48 may be carried by a bimetal strip to provide for compensation for variations of ambient temperature. Contacts 78, 79 in another circuit may also be closed when the armature is attracted.
