Abstract

1,148,182. Electromagnetic interrupters. TUNG-SOL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 1 July, 1966 [12 July, 1965], No. 29714/66. Heading H1N. The armature 22 of an interrupter has a low curie point and is attracted, on energization of a winding 12, to close contacts 26, 28 and connect the armature and relatively low resistance holding winding 10 in parallel with the winding 12. The armature 22 is heated, by the current passing through it, above its curie point so that its spring bias moves it back to the position shown breaking the circuit through the coil 10 and armature 22. On cooling the armature is re-attracted to continue the interrupter action.
