Abstract

1,096,659. Temperature responsive magnetic switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 8, 1966 [Nov. 8, 1965], No. 47196/65. Heading H2B. A thermally responsive magnetic switch has a block 2 retained against a hotplate 1 by an insulating body 2 which contains a permanent magnet 6 attracted to the block 2 against gravity bias and the bias of a contact spring 8. Adjustable nuts 11 provide a " lost-motion " coupling between a rod 7 attached to the magnet 6, and insulators 10 on the spring 8. When the block 2 reaches its curie point, the magnet moves downward to engage a stop 3b and is retained until the block 2 cools and reattracts the magnet 6. The block may be nickel, nickel-copper or nickel-chromium having respective curie-points of 360, 300 or 140‹ C.
