604,754. Thermal switches. PIERCE FOUNDATION, J. B. Nov. 8, 1944, No. 21965. Convention date, Jan. 8. [Class 38 (v)] In an overload circuit-breaker wherein overload causes a bimetallic current-carrying contact disc 29 to snap out of engagement with fixed contacts 12, compensation for variations of ambient temperature is provided by means of a second bimetallic disc 26. In the form shown, the switch, besides being responsive to overload, may be moved " on " or " off " by energization of a coil 14 or 15, the bimetal disc 26 acting then as a bowed snap spring to give a quick movement. When the switch has been opened by overload, the disc 29 remains in the dotted position on cooling, but may be reset by successive energizations of coils 15, 14.
