Abstract
828,754. Automatic circuit - breakers. ELLENBERGER & POENSGEN G.m.b.H. Nov. 7, 1957 [Dec. 14, 1956], No. 34798/57. Class 38 (5). In a trip-free push-button closed overload switch, an angular bridging contact 13, 14 is pivotable on projections 11 connected to a member 9 rigid with a control rod 7 of the pushbutton 4, the contact also being movable on the rod 7 axially thereof. When the button is depressed to close the switch, a part 10 on the rod engages a projection 15 on the contact part 14 and lowers the contact until one end engages under a latch 21 and the other end engages a contact 18. At the same time, contacts 54 carried by member 9 change over from contacts 23 to 24 in signalling circuits. The latch 21 forms a contact and is carried on a bimetal strip 22 heated by a coil 27 connected at one end to the latch 21 and at the other end to the coil 28 of an electromagnet having an armature 30 connected by a lever 33 to the upper end of the bimetal. The contacts may be released by deflection of the bimetal strip due to heating thereof, attraction of armature 30 or depression of a push-button 35 which bears on lever 33. The bimetal is adjustable by a conical-pointed screw 37. When the switch has been tripped, the contacts may be moved to an intermediate position in which all of the circuits are broken so as to indicate that the tripping has been noticed. This position is reached by pressing button 4 only until the end of contact arm 13 engages under a second latch 53 on the bimetal, Fig. 4. The electromagnet may be omitted, and the parts are arranged in a two-part housing.
