Abstract
686,407. Folding-sliding doors. KING, Ltd., G. W. Feb. 19, 1951 [April 13, 1950], No. 9124/50. Class 20(iii) [Also in Group XXV] In a folding door comprising an upper section 1C hingedly connected about a horizontal axis to a lower section 11, and operated by ropes or cables 19 to move from a closed position wherein the sections lie in a common vertical plane to an open position wherein they lie folded one against the other in a plane above the door opening, the sections have a limited vertical movement when a pull is exerted on the ropes, and the upper section has associated therewith rollers 28 which co-operate with inclined guide surfaces 29 upon upward movement of the sections, thereby to move the upper section positively out of the vertical plane in order to break the hinge connection. The vertical movement is accommodated by pegs 15 slidably disposed in slots 17, the pegs serving as pivots when they reach the upper limit of their travel. The lower section is provided at each edge with a roller 14 slidably disposed in a vertical guide-channel.
