Abstract
585,430. Door-operating appliances; hinges. WARNER, F. J. Oct. 16, 1944, No. 19914. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii)] In a hinged door which opens and closes automatically to permit passage of rolling stock such as colliery tubs, a lever connected to the door is partly disposed in the line of movement of the tubs so as to be actuated to open the door and overlap the latter when fully opened to keep the free end of the door out of the line of movement. The door 1 is connected by an adjustable link 10 at one end of a lever 11 fulcrummed on a fixed vertical pin 12 situated at the side of railway lines 16. An approaching tub 17 engages the end 15 of the lever which, in opening the door, is moved to the overlapping position shown in chain lines. The hinges of the door are so disposed that the door in opening rises to avoid the haulage rope (not shown), and closes under its own weight when the tub moves clear of a bumper 18. Hinges.-The link 10 is connected to the door by a fork embracing a tapered lug 6 of a bracket secured to the door, a pin passing through the fork and lug.
