Abstract
684,717. Cathode materials. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS. Inc. Sept. 27, 1950 [Sept. 28, 1949], No. 23712/50. Class 39(i) An electric discharge lamp includes a sealed tubular envelope, a low pressure gas filling, and two spaced cathodes, at least one of which is provided with a coating of an electroemissive material comprising haprium oxide with barium oxide, in molal ratio between 0.2 to 5.5 and 2.0 to 5.5, and preferably in the ratio 1 to 5.5. in order to prevent discolouration and to prolong the life of the lamp. In addition to barium oxide, the coating may include calcium and strontium oxide. Specification 647,954 is referred to.
