Abstract
681,422. Magnetrons. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF TECHNICAL SERVICES OF. Feb. 27, 1948 [March 5, 1946], No. 5987/48. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(i) A magnetron having a ring of interdigitating anode fingers inside a single cavity resonator, is provided at two diametrically opposite points, 90 degrees to either side of the output coupling loop, with phase-reversing anode fingers" such as extra wide fingers, or pairs of fingers connected to the same end section. These " 90 degrees points" are the voltage nodes of the desired mode of the standing wave. By adding or subtracting capacity at these points the frequency of the undesired complementary mode is shifted. To this end capacity fingers are provided for coupling the " phase-reversing fingers" to the opposite end section, or capacity fingers may be provided adjacent to all the anode fingers except the " phase-reversing fingers."
