Abstract

631,208. Velocity - modulation tubes. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. May 15, 1947, No. 13143. Convention date, June 1, 1946, [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Groups XL (b) and XL (c)] Two reflex velocity modulation tubes 25 are mounted together in a casing 34 with a single means 33 controlling the tuning of their resonators 10 and 11 by equal and opposite amounts. The tubes comprise cathodes 17, collimating electrodes 18, grids 20 and 21 mounted in the resonator end walls and a reflecting electrode 24. The outputs of the tubes are combined in a mixer 44. A filter 46 removes the higher frequencies due to the actual tube oscillations and only permits the beat frequency to appear at the output 45.
