Abstract

680,574. Automatic current control systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and DIX, J. C. March 8, 1951 [March 17, 1950], No. 6735/50. Class 38 (iv). The anode/cathode current of a cavity magnetron (represented as Z) is maintained substantially constant by connecting a pentode 6 in series with the negative line of the supply, the potential of the control grid of the pentode being controlled by the voltage drop across the cathode resistor R due both to the load current and to the current in the circuit comprising resistor R, neon lamp 13 and resistor X. This additional current provides a compensation for changes in input voltage. The neon lamp 13 maintains the cathode/screen voltage constant. The resistor X has a value of m times the value of the resistor R, where m is the amplification factor of the valve.
