682,688. Automatic current control systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., COOPER, M., and DUNHAM, C. R. Nov. 24, 1950 [Nov. 24, 1949], No. 30160/49. Class 38 (iv). [Also in Group XL (b)] The current in a D.C. load circuit is stabilized by a valve in series with the load, the voltage drop across a cathode resistor being compared with a reference voltage and the resultant being applied to the control grid. As applied to stabilizing the voltages of the dynodes of an electron-multiplier photo-electric cell (see Group XL (b)), an H.T. supply 10 supplies a load consisting of resistors 11 ... 20 in series with a triode connected valve 21 and cathode resistor 22. The control grid is maintained at a steady potential by a gas-filled stabilizer tube 23 fed through a resistor 24. A resistance 25 having a value equal to the value of the cathode resistance multiplied by the amplification factor of the valve is connected between the cathode and the H.T. supply.
