Abstract
749,077. Automatic voltage control systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and MORROW, A. B. Sept. 24, 1954 [June 24, 1953], No. 17573/53. Class 38 (4). In an automatic voltage stabilizer of the series-valve type, ripple is reduced by superimposing on the grid of the control amplifier valve an A.C. voltage tapped off a potential divider connected across the series valve. The series valves 9 (two in parallel are shown) are controlled by the control amplifier 19, the cathode of which is connected to the reference voltage tube 29 via a cathode follower 23. A voltage proportional to output voltage is tapped off a potential divider 38, 39, 40 in series with a voltage stabilizer tube 37 (to drop a fixed portion of the output voltage) and applied to the control grid of amplifier 19 together with the A.C. voltage obtained via condenser 45 from the potential divider 42, 43 connected across the series valves 9. The anode voltage, of amplifier 19 is stabilized by a tube 33. The resistor 17 is adjustable for giving a. level compounded output characteristic. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the amplifier has its cathode connected to a conventional potential divider across the stabilized output, and its anode is coupled to the grid of the series valve via a voltage stabilizer tube so as to apply the appropriate grid bias.
