A valve 9 controlling the supply of liquid to a spraying device is pulled open against the action of its loading spring by a lever 4, pivoted at 5 to the inner end of the valve casing, and the split pin 16 constituting the connecting point between the lever and the stem of the valve also carries an arm 15 which can be swung round to the position shown wherein it abuts against the valve casing to act as a catch holding the valve in the open position. The end of the arm 15 may engage in a recess in the gland nut through which the valve stem passes.
