Abstract
668,564. Hinged valves. NORMALAIR, Ltd., and RICHARDS, S. T. A. May 15, 1950 [May 13, 1949], No. 12850/49. Class 135. A spill.valve comprises a tubular body a open at both ends and having a port b in its wall surrounded by a recessed seating c and a valve member d loosely mounted on an arm f pivoted externally of the valve bore so as to be movable to any angular position between a fully operative position in which the valve member is inclined at approximately 45 degrees to the axis of the body a and a fully inoperative position in which the valve member lies on the seating to provide an unrestricted passageway through the body. The valve member is mounted with slight pivotal movement on the lever or arm f which has a pivot g. The valve member d and the port b are of elliptical form. The valve member is operated by external control means against the action of a spring (not shown). The spill valve is suitable for location in a conduit between a blower and a pressurised aircraft cabin.
