Abstract

707,165. Fluid-actuated valves. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. April 30, 1952 [July 7, 1951], No. 16169/51. Class 135 A pneumatic valve, e.g. for aircraft brakes, flaps, rudders or undercarriages, comprises a body 1 with an inlet 2 connectable through a control valve operable by the pilot to a pressure source or to exhaust, outlets 4, 5 to an air-operated mechanism, and an exhaust outlet 3. Slidable in the body 1 is an assembly comprising interconnected inlet and exhaust closure members 15, 16, respectively, a sleeve 6, a tubular member 10 and a spring 12 acting to keep a seat 9 on the sleeve in contact with the member 15. Thus when the pressure is applied to the inlet, the assembly moves to seat member 16 on an exhaust seat 17, and then sleeve 6 moves against the spring 12 away from member 15 to admit pressure fluid to the mechanism. When pressure is cut off and exhausted from the inlet, the sleeve moves to engage member 15 and then the assembly moves to engage a shoulder 8 and unseat member 16, whereby the pressure in the mechanism is exhausted. One or more than two outlets may be provided to supply one or more mechanisms.
