Class 135 [Also in Group XXXIV] A control valve for regulating the supply of compressed air to servo-devices for brakes, of the type in which reaction or feel is transmitted back to the operator, comprises a reaction piston f disposed in a cylinder of the valve housing a and movable by an external brake actuator h, the piston f carrying a tubular valve component i arranged to engage a disc valve element j to cut off the outlet port c from the exhaust port d, and two coaxial sleeves n and o forming valve members controlling the air supply from the inlet port b. Small movements of the disc valve element by the piston/sufficient for a gradual brake application cause the inner valve member n to move away from its seat s on the outer valve member o. Larger movements of the piston f, appropriate to emergency braking, cause the inner valve member n to abut against the flange x on the outer valve member o and lift it from its seat m to allow a large air flow.
