Abstract

674,293. Shafts. FIAT SOC. PER AZIONI. June 28, 1950 [June 30, 1949], No. 16202/50. Class 80 (ii). The propeller shaft 1 of a motor vehicle, of high torque flexibility, is rigidly secured at its rear end to the driven member 5 and its front end is splined at 2 in the driving member 3, the shaft being surrounded by a rigid tube 6 which is secured by welding 17 at its rear end to a member 8 secured to the shaft 1 and which is freely mounted at its front end on a bush 7 carried by the member 3, the shaft 1 being supported in the tube 6 at one or more intermediate points by rubber bushings. A rubber dust shield 18 is fitted at the front end of the tube 6.
