585,054. Electric vehicle driving gear. SOC. ANON. DES ATELIERS DE SECHERON. Aug. 2, 1944, No. 14776. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1943. [Classes 79 (ii), 79 (iii) and 79 (iv)] In an electric vehicle having the motor mounted on a sprung chassis and driving the axle through a flexible connection, a pinion and a gear wheel are mounted on the axle, the gears being enclosed by a casing mounted on the axle, a torque rod is provided between the gear casing and the chassis of a length at least equal to the diameter of the gear wheel on the axle, the rod being disposed horizontally or nearly so. - The torque rod may be slightly resilient in the direction of its length. The motor 1 mounted on the sprung chassis 5 has a hollow armature 9 which drives through flexible couplings 11 the pinion 3 and gear wheel 3' on the axle 7. The gears are enclosed in a casing 8 mounted on the axle 7, which casing is linked by the horizontal torque rod 12 to the chassis.
