[Also in Group II] A rotary conveyer, forming part of an apparatus for separating solids by the sink and float process, comprises a conveyer wheel having radially inclined flights 16 which carry material to be separated from a hopper 33, which is formed with a yielding floor 34 terminating in spring fingers 35, downwardly beneath a guard plate 19, at the lower end of which they are released, floats rising upwardly through the separating liquid, and sinks being carried on by the flights over a second guard plate 22 to be discharged through the shoot 21.
