671,422. Travelling-wave tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd. Aug. 11, 1949 [Aug. 19, 1948], No. 21299/49. Class 39 (i). A travelling-wave tube comprises a cylindrical cathode 2, a grid 3, a screen-grid 4 and one or more, e.g. six, coaxially placed grid-shaped electrodes 6 of flat spiral configuration, the whole surrounded by an anode 6. The stay rods of the grids and the spirals are in radial lines from the cathode outwards. The spiral is logarithmic with the circumferential travel proportional to the radius. The relationship between the total number of turns and the operating voltages is given.
