664,665. Smallarms. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO., Ltd., and PERRY, C. A. Sept. 25, 1950. [Sept. 24, 1949] No. 24580/49. Class 119. The ejector 35 of a firearm having a Martini action performs its ejective movement wholly or partly under the influence of a spring 39 which has been stressed by and during a movement of the ejector preceding the ejective movement. In the construction shown a heel 45 of the ejector is engaged by a part 47 of a spring-controlled pivoted lever . 41. Thus, when the cocking lever 7 is turned to depress the breech-block 1 clear of the upper limb of the extractor, the latter is at first held by the part 47 ; further turning of the lever causes the breech-block to engage and depress the lever 41 thereby allowing the spring 39 to impart a rapid movement to the ejector. In a modification, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) the lever 41 is dispensed with.
