Abstract

664,613. Vehicle couplings. UGGLAS, C. AF. March 28, 1949, No. 8380/49. Addition to 629,873. Class 103(v) An arrangement for coupling tractor and trailer, similar to that described in the parent Specification, comprises a hook 3, 4 mounted on one vehicle and a member 9, arcuate in plan form, mounted on the other vehicle, wherein a pivoted catch 6 projects into the aperture of the hook 3, 4 which is open upwards, so that when the member 9 is engaged therewith the catch 6 is moved aside and afterwards swings back under the weight of its lower cam part 7 so as to lock the coupling. The coupling may be disengaged by rotation of a control lever 8 so that the cam part 7 forces the member 9 out of the hook aperture 12.
