Abstract

937,035. Tractor/trailer hitches. O. HOUSE, J. HOUSE, and L. E. LAMUDE. Oct. 12, 1959 [July 12, 1958], No. 22406/58. Class 103(5). A tractor/trailer hitch comprises an upper part 1 pivoted at 3 to the tractor and having an arm 4 movable over but fixable in relation to a sector 5, and a lower part 2 pivoted to the upper part 1 at 6 and mounting on coupling pin 12 and pointed angle irons 10 having notches 10a engageable when the part 2 is lifted by hydraulic lift links 16 with a spring pressed slider 8. In operation, the part 2 is lifted by the links 16 to engage a hole 13 in and lift the trailer coupling 14. Further lift engages the pin 12 in a hole 1a in the part 1, and the notches 10a engage and catch with the slider 8 to lock the hitch in a coupled up position. The links 16 are then disconnected to permit the hitch to swing over the sector plate 5. The coupling may be released by pulling a chain 17 connected to a pivoted lever 15 engaged with notches in the slider 8 to withdraw the slider from the notches 10a.
