Abstract
629,873. Vehicle couplings. UGGLAS, C. AF. Dec. 24, 1947, No. 34270. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1944. [Class 103 (v)] In a coupling between a tractor and trailer, the draw-bar 8 on one of the vehicles has a hook 7 open downwards with a stud-shaped part 6 and a catch 9, which has a part 91 projecting into the hook opening, is pivoted by pin 10 to an eye 11 at the top of the hook. To connect the vehicles, the draw-bar 8, which is pivoted on a horizontal transverse axis, is raised and rested on the top of a V or arcuateshaped coupling member 3 secured to the other vehicle. As the vehicles are moved apart, the end of the coupling member 3 presses back the catch 9 so that the hook 7 can drop, the catch 9 then returning to latching position under its own weight to complete the coupling.
